A new €20 note has been unveiled today.
Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank, spoke at the unveiling of the new note in Frankfurt, saying there is a need for new notes to 'benefit from advances in banknote technology and to maintain their integrity.'
It comes with a shiny new feature which has not been present on any other note before. It's called the “portrait window” and basically means that when you hold it up against a light you can see a portrait of the mythological figure Europa as a hologram which will be visible on both sides of the note. Mr Draghi added that this makes the note more 'resilient against counterfeiting'.
The €20 note is the most frequently used denomination across the Euros. It won't be in circulation until November 25th 2015.
