People who've just got their driving license will have to display an N plate on their car for the first two years.

It's to show they're a novice driver and forms part of new safety rules coming into force next month.

Both novices and learners could face losing their license if they clock up seven penalty points, compared to 12 for a fully licensed driver.

And if they are caught driving solo or without their plates they could be hit with a 60 euro fine.
