Gardai have launched a murder investigation following yesterday’s fatal stabbing in the south inner city.
21 year old Lorcan O’Reilly died in hospital following the attack at the Oliver Bond Street Flats at around 2:45am on Sunday morning.
It was one of a spate of stabbings that took place in Dublin over the weekend.
Gardai have received over 100 statements from residents at the Oliver Bond Street Flat complex following Lorcan's death.
They’ve launched a murder investigation as they piece together the circumstances that lead to the stabbing of the 21 year old.
A post-mortem has been completed but the results aren’t being released for operational reasons.
Superintendent Paddy McMenamin from Kevin Street Garda Station is leading the investigation, he says that Lorcan was well-known and well respected in the community and is appealing for witnesses.
Meanwhile, a 29 year old man’s been remanded on bail charged with a separate stabbing at Beaumont Hospital over the weekend.
John Joyce from Drynam Avenue, Drynam Hall in Kinsealy will appear in court again next month.
There were also stabbing incidents in Darndale, Clarehall and Blanchardstown.
