Gardai have confirmed that the body part found in a canal in Kildare belongs to a man.
Just the torso of the victim was discovered in a suitcase in Ardclough yesterday afternoon.
The man was killed violently and Gardai say the murder happened in the past number of days.
The nationality or age of the victim hasn’t been established yet.
The remains have been removed from the scene for a postmortem examination by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis at Naas general Hospital - while searches at continuing at the site.
