People looking to buy second hand cars are being warned keep an eye out for high quality forged NCT certs.
According to the Independent a gang in Ballymun are behind the scam, which is believed to have been going on for a number of years on the Northside.
Fake NCT certs are being placed in older vehicles which are not roadworthy.
Fake logbooks are also being used.
Gardai are aware of the fraudulent activity and specialist garda units are investigating.
