Around a dozen families left homeless after the Metro hotel and apartment building fire in Dublin have arrived at Dublin City Council's homeless offices without an appointment.

They have been put up in another hotel since the blaze broke out in Ballymun last month, but that offer of free accommodation ends tonight.

Many residents have not yet managed to find somewhere else to stay, and have tried to organise meetings with TDs, Dublin City Council and the Department of Housing.

One of those affected, Adeel Bashir, says he and his family have no idea where they will move to tomorrow.

"We don't have a meeting arranged, but we are turning up to see what happens. I don't know where we will go tomorrow. I don't want to go on the streets and that's it", he said.

Another resident, named Tarfa, who is from Saudi Arabia and has been living in the building for the last seven years, has no idea what will happen next.

"I appreciate that they sent us to another hotel to stay for a couple of nights, but now we have no place to go".

Through tears, she explained that "Now I have no place to stay, I do not have enough money to offer someone to allow me and my son to stay".

Dublin City Councillor, Noeleen Reilly, has put forward an Emergency Motion, calling for the authority to acknowledge that The families affected in the fire were left "with little or no state assistance", which she described as "totally unacceptable".

98FM News has contacted Dublin City Council, but has yet to receive a response.
