Met Eireann says there is "no sign at all" of summer weather arriving.

A yellow rain warning was in place for Dublin and 10 surrounding counties, but was lifted this morning.

Despite that, temperatures are to remain cool with "showers widely" and "all of the days in this coming week".

Forecaster Vincent O'Shea said:

"At the moment in fact there is no sign at all of any settled spell in the offing.

As I speak, it looks changeable, unsettled and mixed right through into next weekend", he said.

This time last year, the entire country was basking in a heatwave.

The warm weather lasted so long, it led Irish Water to issue a hose-pipe ban.

Almost every part of the country was enjoying temperatures into the 30s.

Twelve months later, and we are being told there is "no sign" of warm, or dry, weather arriving.

Vincent O'Shea has admitted people should "expect anything in Ireland in any month of the year".
