Your Emoji keyboard is about to get bigger. A lot bigger.
Apple has confirmed that 300 new little people and icons are on the way, including characters with different skin tones.
Users will soon be able to change any human Emoji in the ‘people’ category by clicking, holding and selecting a skin tone.
There will also be more same-sex characters to choose from, with some of the Emojis depicting families made up of two mothers or two fathers.
The update to the emoji keyboard will be rolled out in Apple’s next OS update, which is currently being tested by beta users, before being released to the public.
"Apple supports and cares deeply about diversity, and is working with The Unicode Consortium to update the standard so that it better represents diversity for all of us," said an Apple spokesperson.
Apple is also adding 32 new country flags.
