The 21 year old Scottish man who murdered Karen Buckley in Glasgow is to be sentenced this morning.

Four weeks ago, Alexander Pacteau pleaded guilty to murdering Karen Buckley in his car after giving her a lift outside a Glasgow nightclub.

The disappearance of the nurse last April sparked a city-wide manhunt - which culminated four days after Karen disappeared when her body was found on a remote farm.

At Glasgow High Court, Judge Lady Rae told Mr Pacteau that his actions were callous and calculating - factors she said she would take on board when deciding on a sentence.

Mr Pacteau will be given the mandatory life sentence, but Judge Lady Rae will decide on a minimum sentence he must serve before being eligible for parole.

The Buckley family, who are expected to attend the sentencing, have said they hope the 'evil killer' spends the rest of his life behind bars.
