A man has gone on trial accused of murdering a man in a Dublin pub.
Eamon Cumberton with an address at Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7 has pleaded not guilty to murdering Michael Barr in April 2016.
At around 5.20 on the evening of April 25th 2016, Michael Barr started working at the Sunset House pub on Summerhill Parade, Dublin 1.
In opening his case this morning, prosecuting barrister Dominic McGinn said two armed men burst into the pub three hours later. He said they targeted Mr. Barr and shot him seven times.
Not long afterwards, he told the three judges of the non-jury Special Criminal Court that a silver Audi A6 was set on fire on nearby Walsh Street.
A number of loaded guns were found in the back of the car as well as masks, balaclavas and boiler suits.
Mr. McGinn said Eamon Cumberton boarded a flight to Bangkok two days later.
He finished his opening address by saying he believed Mr. Cumberton could be linked to some of the items found in the suspected getaway car and he said that, combined with his behaviour after the shooting, was enough to build a case against him.
