A man who abused and raped his three daughters at their Dublin home has been jailed for 17 years.
The judge described him as a man who preyed on innocent girls and robbed them of their innocence for his own sexual gratification.
The 50 year old who can’t be named to protect his victims’ identities, first raped his eldest daughter in 1994.
She was just 11 at the time and he continued to rape and abuse until she ran away from home six years later.
Her younger sister was 10 when he first attacked her and the next youngest was sexually assaulted from the age of 11.
The abuse continued right up until 2012 and the court heard their mother stood by him throughout.
She even gave evidence on her husband’s behalf which led one of their daughters, who is now 29, to say “she used to be a nice person but she seems to be insane now”.
Ms Justice Margaret Heneghan said their children should have had security, care and love in their family home but instead, they were tormented and tortured by a man who used violence or the threat of violence to carry out these vile acts in the most evil manner.
She then handed down a 17 year sentence.
