A man is due in court in Cavan this evening in connection with the stabbing of a woman on Christmas Eve.
The man who's in his late 50s, was arrested on Wednesday, after a woman in her 40s was found with serious stab wounds to her upper body, at a house in Kilnaleck.
The woman was taken to Cavan General Hospital where she's thought to be in a serious but stable condition.
The case will come before a special sitting of Cavan District Court at 5pm.
Gardaí meanwhile are appealing for witnesses and are reminding the public of their confidential number - 1800 666111.
