A man is due in court this morning in connection with a hatchet attack that left another man fighting for his life in hospital.
It happened in an apartment just off Dorset Street in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Gardai were called to the scene at a flat on Kelly's Row just after 2am yesterday.
Inside, they found a 38-year-old man with a serious wound to his face.
He was rushed to the Mater hospital before being transferred to Beaumont where he's said to be in a critical condition.
It's believed he was attacked with a hatchet after a fight broke out following a party at the apartment.
A man in his late 20s was arrested and charged in connection with the assault.
He's due in court this morning.
