A man is due in court this morning charged with dangerous driving in Dublin city after a car hit three people.

The incident, that happened over the weekend in the Liberties, has also been referred to GSOC.

At 11.30 pm on Saturday night, a car on Thomas Street in Dublin 8, that was turning onto Thomas Court, hit a number of kerbside barriers and mounted the path. The vehicle then collided with three men on the pavement.

Two of them were taken to St James's Hospital with serious injuries, while a third man didn't need medical attention.

The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken to Kevin Street Garda Station. He's since been charged and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.

The matter has also been referred to GSOC because the vehicle had interacted with Gardaí beforehand.
