A fourth man has been arrested in connection with a brutal attack in Temple Bar, which has left a man in his 20s in a critical condition.

It happened on Cow's Lane at around about 8.45pm, and three men were arrested shortly afterwards.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to St. James's hospital where he's fighting for his life.

The fourth suspect - in his 30s - was picked up in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai at Pearse Street believe a number of witnesses took photos or filmed the event on their phones, and are appealing to them, or anyone with information, to get in touch.

Meanwhile officers are investigating a separate assault on the northside.

It happened when two teens tried to mug two Brazilian men in their 20s, as they walked along North Strand Road at around 4.30am.

A passing ambulance came to the rescue, and rushed one of the men to the Mater hospital, where he's in a serious condition.
