A man’s appeared in court this afternoon charged in connection with a taxi carjacking yesterday morning.

Twenty six year old Darren McKevitt was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.

This incident happened with the taxi driver picked up a fare on the Greenhills Road.

He was told to drive to St. Aonghus Grove in Tallaght where he was hit by a taser stun gun and had his car and 40 euro stolen.

The car was found sometime later and today 26 year old Darren McKevitt from Cushlawn Park in Tallaght was charged with the robbery.

Garda Kevin Boland from Tallaght Garda Station said Mr. McKevitt replied “I would not commence a robbery for 40 Euro, it wasn’t me” when charged.

Judge Bridget Reilly refused bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the charge and remanded him in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next week.
