A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery on a cash in transit van this morning.
It happened on Cork Street at 20 to 8 on Cork street when a number of men armed with a gun threatened the staff in the cash in transit van.
The raiders fled the scene with a sum of cash.
One of the security men received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Gardai were alerted and a man in his 30s was arrested a short distance away.
A sum of money and a firearm were recovered.
A van believed to have been involved in the robbery was discovered on fire at Dolphins Barn Green, along the canal.
Gardai in Kevin St are appealing for witnesses.
