Man Admits Beating Murder Victim

A man has admitted beating a young man, who died in hospital after being injured on a footbridge in Tallaght in January 2014.

Seven others are awaiting trial for his murder.

Dale Creighton suffered serious head injuries after an alleged attack on a footbridge on St. Dominic’s Road in Tallaght just hours after ringing in 2014.

He lost his fight for life in hospital the following day.

James O’Brien, who is originally from Tallaght, was due to stand trial for assault causing harm to the 20-year-old but he pleaded guilty to the charge when he was arraigned earlier today.

The 22-year-old was remanded on continuing bail and will be sentenced in October.

Seven others, including a brother and sister, have been charged with murdering Dale Creighton and are awaiting trial before the Central Criminal Court.
