A gaelic football player has gone on trial accused of punching another player at a GAA match.
25 year old Sean Brennan from Corduff in Lusk denies assault at the match between Ballyboden St Endas and Round Towers Lusk.
A spectator at this match told the court he went to Ballyboden St Enda’s GAA Club to watch the game against Round Towers Lusk in June 2012.
He said during the second half, two players from either side began wrestling each other and they fell to the ground.
He said the number 3 player from Round Towers then came up and kicked one of the players in the back.
The spectator claimed this same player ran up to a separate scuffle which had broken out on the pitch between around 14 men and punched a player from Ballyboden St Enda.
It was put to him in cross examination that he couldn’t have seen all of this as there was a lot going on at the time. The match referee told the court he didn’t see the alleged assault and he didn’t issue any red cards during the game.
The trial continues tomorrow.
