Luas drivers are set to vote on new proposals aimed at sorting out their row over lunch breaks.

The disagreement started when the Green line was extended and changed the location of drivers' break-time.

Luas drivers complained that there are limited facilities for taking breaks after the line was extended. Drivers said they'd have to carry their lunches in a warm cabin for hours.

Transdev, which runs the Luas, said it would pay for cooler bags for the driver's packed lunches. However, that that proposal was rejected.

Now a new deal is on the table. The Irish Independent reports that under the proposals fresh sandwiches and ready meals would be made available in vending machines. A €2 subsidy would also be provided.

A vote is due to take place on the issue
