Luas drivers are to look for a pay rise of around 40 percent.
The claim is to go before the Labour Court today.
Other staff at the company are also looking for large rises.
The Luas drivers who are represented by Siptu want a similar pay to train drivers at Iarnrod Eireann.
Siptu is warning it will ballot members for industrial action if a satisfactory outcome does not emerge.
