Love/Hate actor Stephen Clinch has been refused bail for his alleged role in an armed robbery at The Gate Hotel on Parnell Street.
He’s accused of pointing a loaded gun at a hotel worker after allegedly stealing over €50,000 on Monday morning.
At 8.15 on Monday morning, two men dressed in high-vis clothing with hats and white dust masks intercepted a security worker who was collecting cash from The Gate Hotel.
A gun was allegedly put to his head while a hotel worker was forced to hand over two sealed money bags containing over €50,000.
They made their escape through a fire escape and the hotel worker gave chase but retreated after Stephen Clinch allegedly pointed the gun at him.
The alarm was raised and ten workers restrained the men until Gardai arrived. The cash and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic gun were seized.
Mr. Clinch played Noely in Love/Hate and this evening, his co-star John Connors who played Patrick the pipe-bomb maker and film maker Mark O’Connor took the stand on his behalf -- but he was refused bail and remanded in custody until next Wednesday.
His co-accused, Hugh McWeeney of Main Street, Belmayne, Malahide Road didn’t apply for bail and he’s also due back in court next week.
