The jury in the trial of a 42 year old man accused of the murder of a dad of two in Palmerstown has begun its deliberations.
Terry Connors of Drumcairn Avenue in Tallaght denies murdering Peter Conroy at a B&B and says he was defending his family
The court’s heard on the 9th of June 2015 gardai were called to Palmerstown lodge B and B where they found the victim 25 year old Peter Conroy outside on a footpath in a pool of blood. He had been stabbed.
A number of people were at the scene who were described as being agitated and excitable. The court heard the accused Terry Connors was staying at the Palmerstown Lodge B and B with his family at the time.
The B&B houses some homeless people and the victim Peter Conroy would also stay there as his partner Elaine Blunt and two kids had a room. Elaine Blunt described to the jury people killing each other at the Lodge that night.
Many of them had been at a wedding earlier in the day.
She said she got into it with the accused’s partner as she believed she had taken a pair of her jeans. Terry Connors, a member of the Traveller community, admits he stabbed 25 year old Peter Conroy but told gardai he was defending his family and he didn’t mean for anyone to die.
The jury has been told they three verdicts open to them: guilty of murder, not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter or not guilty.
