Ivor Callely has pleaded guilty to using a false invoice to claim expenses.

The former Fianna Fáil Junior Minister was due to stand trial at the end of the month.

Ivor Callely is facing a total of six charges in relation to using bogus invoices, from three phone companies, to claim phone expenses.

He allegedly did so under the Oireachtas Members direct purchase mobile phone scheme over a two year period beginning in 2007.

A trial date was set for later this month and his case was listed for mention before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.

Mr. Callely of St Lawrences Road, Clontarf was in the courtroom this morning when his solicitor said he would be pleading to one of the charges.

The 54-year-old admits using a false invoice dated January 2002 on two dates in November 2007 at Leinster House.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring vacated his trial date and set a sentence date of July 22nd when the full facts will be revealed during a 40min hearing.

The court heard today's plea does not affect the status of the remaining charges and Mr. Callely was remanded on continuing bail ahead of sentencing
