Islamic State has claimed responsibility for several terror attacks in Paris - which have left 129 people dead, and at least 180 others injured - 99 of whom are in a critical condition.

A concert venue, a number of bars and restaurants, and the Stade De France were all targeted. Eight terrorists were killed - seven through suicide.

France's president, Francois Hollande, has described the attacks as an 'act of war', and has vowed to respond:

World leaders have condemned the attacks, with US President Barack Obama describing them as 'an outrageous attempt to terrorise innocent civilians.'

President Michael D Higgins described the incident as ' this dreadful loss of life and appalling injuries', while Taoiseach, Enda Kenny described the attacks as the 'Blackest of Fridays for France'.

Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan says Ireland's threat levels are still low, and has offered his condolences to those killed. One Irish person is believed to be injured, and Minister Flanagan is urging any Irish people in France at the moment to remain alert:

A book of condolences is opening at the Pro Cathedral in Dublin, and a special mass has been held this morning in the church for the victims.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin says terror in the name of religion is something that cannot be tolerated.

Several landmarks around the world lit up in French colours last night to show solidarity with Paris, including the Convention Centre in Dublin - while the Eiffel Tower went dark.

All flights to and from Paris today are operating, although airlines are allowing passengers who don’t want to fly this weekend the chance to change the date of their flight.

Aer Lingus is allowing passengers to change their travel date for Paris flights for free, or to cancel for a full refund. Ryanair is also allowing some flight changes for free.

Meanwhile, a man has been arrested at Gatwick Airport after a suspicious device was discovered. The bomb disposal team has been called in, and the airport's North Terminal has been evacuated.
