Irish Water says it's putting a 'protocol' in place to destroy PPS numbers it received in recent weeks.
The government decided to scrap the requirement after it provoked major public controversy, but more than a million numbers had already been submitted.
In a statement to the Irish Daily Mail, the utility says it's making arrangements to remove them, 'in consultation with the data protection commissioner'.
