Ireland is back as a top competitor in the tourism industry.

That's according to the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation.

4 billion euro was injected into the Irish economy by the 7 million tourists that visited here this year.

Paul Carthy is Chairman of the Confederation.

Meanwhile, Dublin was named as one of the top 5 destinations for new years eve.

Lonely Planet gave Dublin the nod after 16,000 people came out to ring in 2013 last year.

And this year it's set to get even bigger, with the official countdown concert getting underway at College Green from half eight tomorrow evening.

Madness will headline the gig with singer-songwriter Ryan Sheridan, and girl band MKS -formerly known as Sugababes- among the others taking to the stage.

Tickets are still available.
