A Garda forensics team is examining a house in Celbridge, Co. Kildare where a man was found dead last night.
His body has been taken away for a post mortem and a man in his 20s is being questioned in connection with his death.
The alarm was raised just before 9 last night.
The victim, a 37-year-old man, was pronounced dead less than an hour later and his body remained at the house overnight to allow for initial tests to be made at the scene.
Residents of Willowbrook Park in Celbridge were stunned when they heard the news.
It’s believed the man was beaten to death after a row broke out inside the house.
At this stage, Gardai are treating his death as suspicious and will await the results of a post mortem before deciding what direction their investigation takes.
Door to door enquiries are being carried out and a forensic examination is underway at the house this afternoon.
A man in his 20s, who was arrested at the scene last night, is still being questioned by Gardai.
