The sister of a Firhouse teen being held in an Egyptian Prison says she believes he is being charged with murder and attempted murder.

19 year old Ibrahim Halawa was arrested along with three of his sisters during a political protest in Cairo in August 2013.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny told TD’s that Ibrahim wasn’t being tried for murder and wasn’t facing the death penalty.

He said that there were four charges, including entering a mosque during a protest, failure to leave a mosque and barricading himself and others inside the building.

But Ibrahim’s sister Fatima, who was arrested alongside her brother and released three months later, says they were given 16 charges, including murder.

She says these four allegations are news to them.

"If we've been charged with these and all of a sudden they've been changed, it just shows that there's no law, no system going into place. The whole fact that people can change charges really easily in that perspective. I think more, I was shocked to hear it because this is obviously new information for us".

Lord Mayor Christy Burke has given his support to the family, he believes the information the Government's been given is incorrect.

"I do believe that there may be wrong information the Government there is feeding to this Government here. And if we're going to buy into that, well we really need to start taking stock".

Ibrahim’s next mass trial is due to take place on June 3rd.
