Hundreds turned out for an anti-homophobia demonstration in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

It follows controversy over comments made by gay rights activist Rory O'Neill on RTÉ's Saturday Night show last month.

The comments were subject to legal action, and it's now understood that the State Broadcaster paid out 85 thousand euro as part of a defamation settlement.

Labour Senator Ivana Bacik says rallies like these are important for promoting equality.
