The Housing Minister has been accused of 'manipulating' homelessness figures.
It's after reports Eoghan Murphy instructed local authorities to leave certain people off the list.
The Minister says it's because councils were wrongly categorizing people who were in secure accommodation as homeless.
However, Sinn Féin's Eoin O'Broin believes it's a clear attempt by Eoghan Murphy to massage the figures.
"If he doesn't know the difference between a tenancy and an emergency licence, then he shouldn't be in the job", he said.
"If he doesn't understand the difference between living in a home and being in a temporary arrangement, you have to question his ability".
Earlier this week, the Department of Housing released new figures which stated 9681 people were homeless in April.
However, the department took 600 people in social housing and receiving rent supplement out of the figures, blaming errors in the "reporting model."
The reclassification meant numbers in emergency accommodation narrowly avoided passing the 10,000 mark.
Minister Eoghan Murphy said that a number of local authorities had reported people "as having been categorised as homeless and in emergency accommodation when they are not".
He removed those people from the figures, and suggested the "current reporting model needs to be reformed".
Anthony Flynn from Inner City Helping Homeless said local authorities are being blamed for causing confusion.
"The department is blaming the council, the council is blaming the department... the system is a total mess. If the Minister can't do his job he needs to get out of his office and let someone else in".
