New research shows people pay on average around 2.6 percent more to live within 200 metres of a primary school.

According to property website Daft,ie homeowners are paying 4,700 euro on average to live close to primary schools and 3,600 euro to live near to post primary schools.

The cost of living near a primary school varies around the country but it is highest in South County Dublin.

Ronan Lyons, Assistant Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin and Economist at Daft-dot-ie, says primary schools with smaller class sizes also have the biggest impact on prices.
