The government's writing to people who have registered with Irish Water, inviting them to apply for the water conservation grant.
Letters will begin arriving in homes tomorrow.
Everyone who registered their home with the utility by 30 June will start getting notices asking them to apply for the Water Conservation Grant.
People will have to supply PPS numbers and bank details to the Department of Social Protection to get the payment.
Customers can apply online or over the phone before the closing date of October 8th this year.
The first payments are expected to start going into customers' bank accounts mid-September and completed by the end of October.
