Homelessness in Dublin doubled since last April

Six new people are going to homeless services in Dublin every day.

The number of people sleeping rough has doubled since last April.

Today's Irish Times claims that the situation has become so bad that emergency accommodation is being provided at the Civil Defence HQ on Wolf Tone Quay.

Catherine Maher is the National Director of Services at homeless charity, Focus Ireland.

She says a lack of available homes in the private rental sector is one of the main problems:
