The brother of a man found dead in Tallaght Hospital wants to know why he was left there so long.

40 year old Brian Hamilton was found in a chair in the waiting room of Tallaght Hospital's Emergency Department on Saturday.

A statement from the hospital says he had been sheltering there and hadn't sought medical attention.

Brian's brother Michael has told 98FM's Dublin Talks he had registered as homeless to avail of a detox programme.

"He was in rehab for his alcohol addiction, and the only way we could get him into Simon was to register him as homeless".

Michael explained that he "went up to identify his body at 3:45 on Saturday, and I could tell myself and I'm not a doctor, that he was dead a long time".

Anthony Flynn from Inner City Helping Homeless sais Brian's death shows we're "now beyond crisis levels."

He is calling on the Housing Minister to "put a full review of homeless services in place."

"No one should be going into Emergency Departments to seek shelter. This is happening in several hospitals with people seeking shelter at night time because of a lack of beds, a lack of facilities and a lack of wraparound services", he warned.
