On 18th August, Depaul, a charity supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Ireland, launched their second annual Raft Race Against Homelessness in Grand Canal Dock.

The flagship fundraiser brings together race teams from businesses and associations across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK; whose participation helps to raise vital funds for Depaul’s services.

Ms. Kerry Anthony, CEO of Depaul, comments on the event: “The Raft Race Against Homelessness symbolises the importance of working together on rebuilding the lives of those who are affected by homelessness.

Homelessness is at critical levels in the Republic of Ireland, with latest figures showing that there are currently 556 families including 1,185 children in homeless accommodation in the Dublin region.  Depaul have seen an increase in the number of people accessing our services; in 2014, we provided 423 bed spaces per night and helped 3,325 people.”
