Health Minister To Issue Statement On Overcrowding

The Minister for Health is expected to issue a statement on hospital overcrowding, as he returns to work today.

Over 600 people were waiting on trolleys in emergency departments yesterday, the highest figure ever.

The National Association of General Practitioners says family doctors could help reduce ED attendances, if they're properly resourced.

NAGP secretary Dr Keith Swanick says there's a morale and manpower crisis among GPs, but better resources would mean better primary care for patients:
