There’s been a rise in support for the Government parties according to the latest opinion poll.

The Red C poll for tomorrow’s Sunday Business Post shows the two government parties gaining five percentage points between them.

The poll of just over 1,000 adults between Monday and Wednesday of this week is good news for the government parties.

The feelgood factor after last weekend’s referendum appears to have benefitted both parties - with Fine Gael up 3 points to 28%, its highest support levels in eight months.

There’s also good news for Labour, which is up 2 points to 10% - level with the highest rating Joan Burton has managed since taking over.

Fianna Fáil is unchanged on 19% - despite the poll coming in the aftermath of Averil Power’s resignation - while Sinn Féín are down 1 point to 21%.

The Greens also gain two points to 3, while Renua are unchanged on 1%

That means it’s the independents who lose support as more voters grow to trust the government - they’re now on 18% down SIX points in just five weeks.
