More than half of those looking to go to college this year have changed their mind about which course to study.
The Central Applications Office says just under 42 thousand people took the option before this month's deadline.
2014 has turned out to be a record year for demand in college places, with a total of 77 thousand 725 applications submitted.
That's up more than 16 hundred on last year's figures.
