Armed Gardai have fired a number of shots after a van failed to stop in Inchicore.
No one was injured in the stand-off at three o'clock this afternoon, and officers seized a gun and a silencer at the scene.
A man in his twenties has been arrested and is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station.
The scene at Jamestown Road has been sealed off for forensic tests.
