The giant mural of two men embracing on George's Street was never destined to stay for long.
It was put up by artist Joe Caslin on the side of a building at the start of April as a “poignant representation of same sex love in the city”.
However, campaigners for a No vote in the marriage equality referendum were the first to call for it to come down, followed by Dublin City Council.
The Council said the mural had no planning permission, and were understood to be asking the owner of the building that it's on when they planned to remove it.
However, the Irish weather has got there before any cherry-picker could, and washed away large portions of the piece.
It has quite literally defaced 'The Claddagh Embrace'.
