Gardai have identified the man at the centre of the brutal suitcase murder.
The man’s torso was discovered in the Grand Canal in Kildare on Saturday afternoon by two walkers.
At a press briefing at Leixlip Garda station, detectives named the man as 33-year-old Kenneth O’Brien originally from Ballyfermot but who'd been living in Lealand Park, Clondalkin. He had no links to crime.
He was reported missing last week, and Gardaí are stressing he was a "family man" who had recently returned from Australia, where he'd been working as a JCB driver.
Officers want to talk to anyone who was in touch with Mr O'Brien in person, or by phone or text between Friday and Saturday morning.
Meanwhile Searches are continuing in the canal in Ardclough as gardai continue to try and piece together this murder.
Gardai believe Kenneth was killed elsewhere before his remains were dumped in the water.
