A blitz by armed gardai on roving burglar gangs has resulted in over 20 arrests.
Checkpoints have been mounted across the country to target the criminals involved.
Its believed that this series of robberys on people in their homes and businesses involves up to 300 criminals.
Gardai have launched a major campaign to crack down on these gangs and have set up 40 checkpoints a day in the east and south.
The operation has already seen over 20 people arrested with 2 picked up last night in Co. Carlow.
Over 40 cars have also been seized.
Many of the suspects involved are believed to be based in the Tallaght area but some have addresses in Rathfarnham, Dun Laoghaire, and Shankill.
