The funeral of a man who died after taking part in the online drinking craze 'neknomination' will take place in Carlow today.

19-year-old Jonny Byrne from Leighlinbridge was killed after he jumped into the River Barrow on Saturday evening, having consumed a quantity of alcohol.

The mass will take place at Leighlinbridge Church at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

He'll be buried afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald are among those who have joined the calls for people to stop taking part in the dangerous game.
