A fugitive sex offender will be able to hand himself over to UK authorities or contest his extradition when he appears in court tomorrow.
Mina Shahid has been on the run since he was convicted of sexual assault at an English court back in April.
It’s understood he travelled to Ireland from Scotland and Gardai were made aware of a European warrant for his arrest.
A public appeal for information was made after he was spotted in Limerick a few weeks ago and the Pakistani native was caught trying to leave the country last night.
He appeared before the High Court earlier today where Garda Enda Ledwith gave evidence of arresting him after escorting him off an Emirates flight just minutes before it was due to leave Dublin airport for Dubai.
Mr. Shahid was remanded in custody and is due back in court tomorrow morning.
The 22-year-old will be able to consent to his surrender or contest his extradition by requesting a full hearing.
