The former Justice Minister Alan Shatter insists a €12 passport photo was needed for official business and wasn’t for his own personal benefit.
The Dublin South TD says he’s being wrongly accused of misusing taxpayer money by claiming it as an expense.
The passport photos were taken at the Camera Centre on Grafton St in October 2013, just a few months before Alan Shatter resigned its ministry.
The €12 claim was revealed today following a Freedom of Information request, and the former Justice Minister believes he’s being wrongly accused of abusing his position and misusing taxpayers money.
He says the passport photo was bought to allow him visit Irish troops in the Lebanon as part of his role as Minister for Defence and that he was requested to furnish all invoices/receipts in relation to the trip to the Department as is the usual practice.
