A former nursing home in Ballsbridge in Dublin 4 is to be used to accommodate up to 220 asylum seekers.

St Mary's Home beside St Conleth's College will re-open to families seeking international protection in the coming days according to the Irish Times.

The arrangement is expected to last for at least the next year, with 40 rooms spread across three floors.

The Victorian building, that's close to the RDS and Herbert Park, closed as a nursing home in 2020.

Planning permission was previously granted for a controversial 64-unit build-to-rent scheme on the site.
