Those preparing to binge on X-Factor and ice-cream this weekend may want to check their freezers first.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued a product recall on Ben & Jerry’s 500ml Cookie Dough Ice Cream sold within the UK and Ireland.

It’s believed that some of the products may contain small pieces of metal.

In a safety notice, the company are encouraging consumers to check the batch number on the bottom of tubs to ensure it is not affected.

Anyone who finds a tub with batch codes L62110L011, L62111L011, L62112L011 and L62113L011 are being encouraged to dump them immediately.

Products outside of the four codes listed above are said to be unaffected.
