Focus Ireland says it dealt with a record number of homeless families in Dublin last month.
Figures out this morning show that the number of families becoming homeless so far this year has almost reached the total for all of 2014.
In the first 7 months of this year the charity worked with 466 families, compared to 485 the previous year.
Last month a record 77 families presented to them, with 70 of them saying they'd never been homeless before.
Now the Environment Minister has issued a new order to the 4 local authorities in Dublin to prioritise the homeless for half over vacant housing units for the next 6 months.
