Dublin's longest planned social housing regeneration project will finally see its first residents this weekend.
It comes 16 years after its development was originally announced.
There have been several attempts to regenerate St. Michael's Estate over the years but it wasn't until 2008 that this 12 million euro council project was given the go ahead.
A complex of 350 flats has been replaced by Thornton Heights which comprises 75 houses and apartments, with childcare facilities and playgrounds.
The official opening will take place in two weeks time but tenants are already beginning to move into the homes.
However just a handful of the former community will return due to long delay in rebuilding the complex.
